Constitution Of The Bahamas- The Bahamas Independence Order 1973 – As The Bahama Islands were a British Crown Colony from 1718, the constitution of the Bahamas was actually enacted by the British parliament to come into force on July 10, 1973- Bahamian Independence Day! This document enshrines the basic law of the Bahamas. it was finalised at the 1972 constitutional conference in London attended by leading members of the governing Progressive Liberal Party and the opposition Free National Movement. This edition is the first publication of its kind since the original Independence Order was published by Her Majesty’s Stationary Office in 1973. It is a faithful reproduction of the original and is reproduced under the terms of Crown Copyright Policy Guidance issued by HMSO.
